For a limited time, Village tours are free on Thursdays and Saturdays at 11:00 am! 

Your tour guide will take you back in time, excite you, and inspire you. Tours are fun for all ages.



Village tours are free  on Thursdays and Saturdays at 11:00 a.m. Private tours are also available by appointment, for groups of 4 or more. Please give 24 hour’s notice. Private tour fees are: $10 adults • $7 military, students and seniors
All Tours begin at the visitors center.

Stroll our lovely grounds and tour the interior of 6 of our historic sites with a guided docent. Tours are suitable for school aged children and adults and can be modified to pique the interest of those in your group. One of our most popular rooms is in The Faires House – the kitchen with the open fireplace. Tours are approximately 1 hour long.

Private tours can be reserved with 24 hour notice for a minimum of 4 guests, pending availability. Scheduling is subject to docent availability, and as such, requests are not guaranteed, but we will make every effort to accommodate your request!

On Saturdays during the Farmers Market, tour tickets are available at the information booth located at the corner of Kentucky & Hunt Streets.

Tour begins in the north lot adjacent on Highway 5 (McDonald St.) 

Experience the historic district in downtown McKinney on our charming trolley with a trained docent.  While viewing the architecture of the many historic homes and buildings, you’ll hear about some of the significant people who made their mark in McKinney. The trolley is a wonderful tour to take with out of town guests.

During Farmers Market season, tour tickets are available at the Information Booth located at the intersection of Anthony & Chestnut Streets.

Field trips are different at Chestnut Square. Our park-like setting is reserved for one school group ONLY when booked for tours.  History comes to life for your students, as docents dressed in historical costumes tell about the people who helped shape life in Collin County from 1850 to 1930. You can bring sack lunches and picnic on our beautiful grounds.  Tours last from one to two hours and support the TEKS standards in social studies.

Gather your friends, church group, Senior living group or any social group and enjoy an afternoon Tea & Tour at Chestnut Square.  Sit down in our Bevel House and enjoy a 3 course luncheon paired with assorted hot tea and other cold beverages.  You will be entertained with a “Mini” vintage fashion show followed by a tour of our grounds historic homes led by a knowledgeable tour guide.  And, of course, a visit to Dixie’s Store before you head home.

Ghostly Hauntings

$20 per person

Third Saturday of every month at 8pm. Special dates in October. 

Children under 12 are not permitted. Children 12-17 must be accompanied by an adult.

Tour starts at the school house on the north east side of the property.

This is a very popular tour with a limited number of guests permitted per tour. The Ghostly Hauntings at Chestnut Square tour is a 2 hour flashlight tour of the historic homes at Chestnut Square. Hear the history of the homes, the people who lived in them, how they lived and all the ghostly hauntings that happen in each house.

Tickets are not refundable unless the event is cancelled by Chestnut Square Historic Village.

If you are unable to use your tickets, they are transferrable to another party. If the tickets go unused, you may contact us for a donation receipt.

In case of cancellation, ticketholders will be notified.
